Liverpool have contacted Brighton over the possibility of signing Moises Caicedo as they continue to explore their options for reinforcement in midfield.

Caicedo has been expected to leave the Seagulls this summer with Chelsea having been in talks over a deal for several weeks, most recently having a £80million bid rejected for the 21-year-old.

But the Reds have now formally expressed their interest in the Ecudaor international having grown frustrated in their attempts to sign Southampton's Romeo Lavia after a third bid worth around £46m was rejected on Monday.
