Mohamed Salah's next goal will see him join Gordon Hodgson in third place on Liverpool's all-time top scorers list.

The Egyptian netted his 240th Reds strike at Aston Villa in midweek to move within one of the tally produced by Hodgson from 1926 to 1935.

An appearance for Salah at Manchester City on Sunday would be his 387th for the club since arriving from AS Roma in the summer of 2017.

Salah has been involved in more Premier League goals against Pep Guardiola's Man City than any other player (13 – eight goals, five assists). Only Steven Gerrard (14) has been involved in more against City in the competition's history (four goals, 10 assists).

The No.11 has either scored (eight goals) or assisted (five) 13 of his team's last 18 Premier League goals against City.

As a Red, only versus Manchester United (22) does Salah have more goal involvements than against Manchester City in all competitions (19 – 12 goals, seven assists).

Following the 2-0 win at Anfield in December, Liverpool are looking to complete a Premier League double over City for just the third time (also 2005-06 and 2015-16).

The Reds have achieved a double over the reigning Premier League champions six times previously – more than any other side in the competition's history (v Blackburn Rovers in 1995-96, Manchester United in 2000-01, 2001-02, 2008-09 and 2013-14, and Chelsea in 2010-11).

Liverpool have more wins against Premier League reigning champions than any other club.

The Reds are unbeaten in each of their last 13 top-flight fixtures played on a Sunday (won 11, drawn two) while scoring multiple goals in each of those matches, since a 1-0 defeat by Crystal Palace in April 2024.

Only Liverpool and Arsenal have amassed more points in the league than Man City since Christmas (17).
