NewsMissy Bo Kearns signs contract extension with Liverpool FC Women
Liverpool FC Women midfielder Missy Bo Kearns has extended her contract with the club.
The 22-year-old has been with the Reds since the age of eight and has now agreed to continue her association further.
A lifelong Liverpool fan, the Academy graduate has progressed through the ranks to the senior team, while establishing herself as a firm fan favourite.
Last season’s haul of five goals included game-winning strikes, as she featured in every league match, with Kearns voted the Standard Chartered Player of the Season by supporters.
After penning her new deal, Kearns told Liverpoolfc.com: “It’s the same feeling as my first ever one, it’s a very proud moment and it shows all the hard work has been paying off.
“It’s a big thing to sign a professional contract at any club, never mind Liverpool, and I’m fortunate enough to be keeping on my journey here.
“Everyone knows I’m a Liverpool fan and have been at the club since I was eight. Now I see my role when the new players come in as about managing the standards of what it is to be a Liverpool player and what we want to achieve as a club.”
Even after so many years in red, the England U23 international still has ambitions burning bright for herself and the club.
“My ambitions are to keep performing and developing, score more goals, get more assists to help the team,” Kearns added.
“But I think at Liverpool we should be winning things and every year we’re closing the gap. For me it’s about pushing and trying to push standards.
“Obviously I want to try to get in the England senior squad, but it all comes down to my performance on and off the pitch.
“I’ve proved myself in the first year, but I’ve got to keep proving myself every year, it can’t just be a one-off season. I’ve got to keep pushing, working hard, looking to develop, get better, learn and perform.”
Kearns received external recognition last season as well, picking up Young Player of the Year at the Women’s Football Awards alongside Lauren James.
LFC Women manager Matt Beard is also delighted to see her further commit her future to the Reds.
“We’re delighted Bo has extended her contract,” Beard said. “Second half of the season she was excellent, and we’re really pleased with her progression over the last few years.
“She’s gone from being a young kid to a senior player at a young age, so we’re really pleased and we’re looking forward to seeing her progress even further.”
