Wednesday’s encounter is the 244th Merseyside derby across all competitions.
Liverpool are aiming to reach a century of victories over their neighbours, having beaten the Blues 99 times to date. Everton have recorded 67 wins and there have been 77 draws.
This will be Jürgen Klopp’s final Merseyside derby in charge of Liverpool. He’s won nine of his 16 previous league meetings with Everton (six draws, one defeat). No Reds manager has ever won as many as 10 league Merseyside derbies.
Klopp could also become just the second Liverpool boss to win both his first and last league clashes with Everton, after Sir Kenny Dalglish.
The Reds have lost just one of their last 26 Premier League games against Everton (12 wins, 13 draws), winning four of the last five and keeping a clean sheet in each of the last four.
Mohamed Salah has been directly involved in six goals in his last five Premier League appearances against Everton, scoring five and assisting one – including a brace in the reverse fixture in October.
Only Ian Rush (13), Steven Gerrard (nine) and Harry Chambers (eight) have scored more league goals for Liverpool against Everton than Salah (seven).

Klopp’s men have won each of their last 12 league fixtures played on a Wednesday by an aggregate score of 33-5, since a 1-0 home loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in February 2021.

The Blues have won both of their last two Premier League home games, keeping a clean sheet in each.

Alisson Becker has kept seven clean sheets in his nine previous appearances against Everton – all in the league.
