NewsMelissa Lawley voted LFC Women's Standard Chartered Player of the Month

The exciting winger has produced a series of outstanding displays for the Reds as they battle for crucial points in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

The 28-year-old’s wing play produced an assist for Missy Bo Kearns against Brighton & Hove Albion before another two against Reading, her crosses met by scoring headers from Katie Stengel and Rhiannon Roberts.

A 45-minute display against Blackburn Rovers in the Continental League Cup last Sunday also produced a shot against the bar and involvement in the Reds’ winning goal.

Lawley received her Standard Chartered trophy from manager Matt Beard ahead of Sunday’s home game at Prenton Park against West Ham United.

Lawley told Liverpoolfc.com: “It’s lovely to win and I want to thank all the supporters who voted for me. Home and away, they’ve been brilliant for us this season and I’m looking forward to seeing them all again on Sunday at Prenton.

“And, of course, I need to thank all the girls in the team. We’re all just going to keep our heads down and keep working hard. Up the Reds!”

Lawley and her teammates return to action in that WSL clash with West Ham on Sunday, with a 2pm GMT kick-off at Prenton Park.
