Melissa Lawley could make her long-awaited return from injury in Liverpool FC Women's fixture against Aston Villa Women this weekend, Matt Beard has confirmed.

The winger has been sidelined since April after undergoing surgery on a hip problem.

But Lawley is now set to be available for Sunday evening's clash with Villa at Prenton Park in the Barclays Women's Super League.

Offering an injury update on Friday, Beard told his pre-match press conference: "The only one that will be fit and available will be Mel Lawley."

He continued: "It's great. Mel's worked incredibly hard over the off-season. She's slowly but surely getting there and we're really looking forward to having her available."
