Latest on Piotr Zielinski destination
Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski will choose between Liverpool and AC Milan this summer, but his agent insists that the decision remains a secret for the time being.
The Polish international impressed during his loan spell with Empoli last season, which in turn has led to significant speculation over his future.
Liverpool appear to still be his preference, although Milan have emerged as stiff competition for Jurgen Klopp with Vincenzo Montella hopeful that Zielinski can bolster his midfield ahead of his first season in charge.
The Italian tactician favours a possession-based style of football and will need to revamp the Milan midfield, and it appears as though Zielinski fits the bill for him.
However, the 22-year-old’s agent was giving no clues as to which club his client is set to choose this summer, suggesting that it remains a secret for now.
“We know that many clubs have approached Udinese with offers for Zielinski. We’re talking to [Giampaolo] Pozzo and the clubs concerned,” he said, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I don’t know the exact numbers of the proposals made to Udinese. Maybe worth more. You have to ask them. I speak with Pozzo and I’ll analyse the situation and requests.
“We have already made our choice, but for now it’s a secret.”
It remains to be seen which side Zielinski chooses, but ultimately he will provide his new club with a major boost such is the high regard in which he is held by many top European outfits.
Klopp has already been active in the summer transfer market with the signings of the likes of Joel Matip and Sadio Mane, but it’s relatively clear that he’s far from finished and will look to bolster his squad further where possible.
