NewsMatt Beard issues LFC Women injury update ahead of Tottenham
The Reds make the trip to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday afternoon, with kick-off in the capital set for 2.15pm BST.
Beard told the media briefing: “We’ve got a couple that we’ll assess by tomorrow. We lose Zara [Shaw] and Eva Spencer, so we’ve only got one fit goalkeeper going into the weekend.
“We’ve tried everything to get an emergency loan but they’re obviously going to the U17 World Cup.
“We’ve got a couple we need to assess tomorrow, so the squad will be stretched this weekend.”
On trying to get an emergency loan in, he added: “There’s just no-one available. The Champions League teams have submitted their list, and I think if a goalkeeper goes out on loan and then plays, they can’t play in that tournament.
“We’ve been trying to do it. Teagan [Micah] is probably going to be back in next week, but it’s just unfortunate we’ve not been able to do it.”
