ReactionLuke Chambers: Getting more game time is something to strive towards
The 18-year-old started in front of more than 50,000 fans in Bangkok on Tuesday as the Reds kicked off their pre-season schedule with a defeat by Manchester United.
Chambers now has his sights set on another appearance for Jürgen Klopp's side, who head to Singapore for a friendly with Crystal Palace on Friday.
"It drives you for more," the Preston-born full-back told Liverpoolfc.com after the United game. "I think once you do get your first taste of playing in front of a lot of fans, you just want to play in front of them all the time. So, it's something to strive towards.
"It's something new with all the fans and putting yourself up against the best is what I wanted. I think it was a really good test for me and I think I took a lot out of the game.
"That's one of my goals – to try to be in and around the first team as much as I can. And when I do get opportunities, I need to take them as best as I can.
"It wasn't the result we wanted but I think the lads and I can take a lot of experience out of it and I think it has been a really good lesson for me.
"We are off to Singapore now, so that should be good, and then I'm just looking forward to the next game against Crystal Palace."
Chambers was one of a host of youngsters used by Klopp in Thailand's capital, with Isaac Mabaya also in the starting XI as Melkamu Frauendorf, Stefan Bajcetic, Leighton Clarkson, Bobby Clark and Tom Hill appeared from the bench.
"Me and Isaac were in the starting team and we've been playing together since we were nine and 10," Chambers revealed. "So having someone there next to you like that does boost your confidence and being around some of your teammates you know really well.
"It's really good and you can express yourself a bit more with them around you."
