Did you know?Luis Diaz could reach two LFC milestones against Newcastle
The Colombia international is in line to make his 50th appearance for the Reds in all competitions since arriving from FC Porto in January 2022.
Diaz has netted in each of Jürgen Klopp’s side’s opening two games of 2023-24, first with a close-range strike in the 1-1 draw at Chelsea.
The No.7 followed that up with an instinctive, volleyed effort past AFC Bournemouth last weekend to kickstart a comeback to a 3-1 Anfield victory.
If Diaz finds the target again during the clash with Newcastle, he will become only the fourth LFC player in the Premier League era to score in the first three games of a season.
The others to achieve the feat were Robbie Fowler (1994-95), Daniel Sturridge (2013-14) and Sadio Mane (2017-18).
Collectively, meanwhile, the Reds will be aiming to secure a third successive league win at Newcastle for the first time in the club’s history.
Liverpool are also now three goals away from reaching the total of 900 under Klopp’s management.
