NewsLocal school children surprised by LFC men's team at Nike 'Game On' event
The Liverpool men’s team surprised children by dropping in on the event, which was held to celebrate the activity and achievement of the Game On programme.
Manager Jürgen Klopp and his squad were on hand to meet the young children, sign autographs and get photos, creating lifelong memories for all those attending.
The children then enjoyed a tour of the AXA Training Centre before heading outside for a Game On session at the club’s Academy, where they were joined by midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai and Reds legend Sami Hyypia to put them through their paces.
Game On launched in 2020 and is a collaborative project funded by Nike and delivered by LFC Foundation. The aim of the programme is to help young people across Merseyside access and benefit from a range of sports in their local area, as well as providing coaching opportunities through a new coaching academy.
The programme supports young people aged seven to 12 from underserved communities and children of all abilities by providing them with opportunities to become members of local, diverse sports clubs and play a variety of sports.
In the first three years of the programme, more than 8,000 children have been engaged, with coaching delivered in more than 15 different sports.
