NewsLoan watch: Win for Rhys Williams and Conor Bradley praised

In the Championship, Rhys Williams helped Blackpool begin the new campaign with a 1-0 win at home to Reading, the centre-back playing the full match at Bloomfield Road.

Conor Bradley also clocked up 90 minutes as Bolton Wanderers got their League One season under way with a 1-1 draw away to Ipswich Town.

It was the Reds youngster – playing in an advanced role on the right flank – who won the penalty from which his side took the lead, when his dribble into the opposition area drew a foul.

“Physically, he learned an awful lot because it’s hard work playing in that position for us,” Bolton manager Ian Evatt said of Bradley post-match.

“There were really good moments from him, first half in particular; defensively really solid. Then, second half when we needed him to make that back post a little bit we just ran out of gas. That will improve as the games come thick and fast. He’s a really exciting prospect.”

James Balagizi was in the starting XI for Crawley Town’s League Two opener, featuring for 69 minutes of the 1-0 defeat at Carlisle United.

In the same division, Adam Lewis was an unused substitute in Newport County’s 1-1 draw at Sutton United and Vitezslav Jaros also remained on the bench as Stockport County were beaten 3-2 at home to Barrow.

Jakub Ojrzynski, too, was a watching sub for Radomiak Radom, who lost 3-0 against Gornik Zabrze in their third game of the Polish top-flight season.

On Friday evening, Billy Koumetio played 90 minutes for Austria Vienna II as they were defeated 4-2 at Blau-Weiss Linz in the second tier.
