NewsLiverpool's four possible opponents in Champions League last 16
The conclusion of the Champions League league phase on Wednesday evening has confirmed Liverpool’s four possible opponents in the last 16.
The Reds guaranteed their spot in this season’s Round of 16 with a match to spare, and completed the opening stage by travelling to PSV Eindhoven.
Despite their 3-2 loss in the Netherlands, Arne Slot’s side finished in first place in the league-phase table.
In the last 16, they will therefore meet a team that finished 15th, 16th, 17th or 18th in the standings and qualified for the knockout phase play-offs – which, respectively, were Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Monaco and Brest.
Those four clubs will be paired together in the knockout phase play-off draw on Friday (January 31), with their two-legged ties to be held on February 11/12 and February 18/19.
The last-16 draw is set to be held on February 21, when the paths for the rest of the knockout stage will also be mapped out.
