Liverpool U18s were edged out 4-3 by AFC Ajax in a thrilling friendly encounter at the Kirkby Academy.

Jayden Danns scored twice for the young Reds and Kieran Morrison was also on the mark before the Dutch side netted a last-minute winner.

Reflecting on Wednesday's game, U18s boss Marc Bridge-Wilkinson told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was a really good game and it was fantastic to welcome Ajax to our Academy.

"It was 1-1 at half-time, then Ajax went 3-1 up before we did brilliantly to get it back to 3-3 before they scored in the last minute.

"Both teams had great spells in the game and they are a really good side. It was a really useful outing for us, especially with our FA Youth Cup tie at Fleetwood Town called off last Sunday.

"We will play Ajax again in Amsterdam in January and we are really looking forward to it."
