Liverpool are reportedly in the market for a new midfielder from the Bundesliga.

Reports have claimed that Freiburg star Merlin Rohl is a player of interest to the Reds ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Bundesliga reporter Christian Falk for Sport Bild, Liverpool have placed Rohl on their shortlist of transfer targets, with scouts already watching the Germany Under-21 international in action.

The report claims that Freiburg were aware of interest from the Reds during the summer transfer window, which prompted the decision to award the player a new contract.
