Liverpool FC will show its support for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal 2024 at upcoming fixtures – with shirts embellished with poppies to mark Remembrance Day.

The Reds will wear poppy shirts at the club's dedicated Remembrance fixtures against Aston Villa on Saturday November 9 at Anfield and Chelsea Women at St Helens Stadium on Sunday November 10.

The poppy jerseys, which are worn to remember the service and sacrifice of the armed forces community, will be signed by all players and auctioned to raise funds for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.

A period of silence will be observed ahead of kick-off at both fixtures, where current and ex-service personnel, standard bearers and a bugler will lead the period of remembrance on the pitch.

Further support to the Poppy Appeal will be given through the LFC matchday programme, perimeter LED boards and an LFC Royal British Legion poppy pin on sale on LFC's online retail store.

Last year, the club raised more than £140,000 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal campaign, with the commemorative shirts worn at the Brentford and Leicester City Women fixtures raising more than £48,000, and £92,000 raised from the sale of dual-branded poppy pins.

Men's captain Virgil van Dijk said: "We wear the poppy shirt with pride and it's important to the team to show their respect and thanks to the armed forces community."

The club will also proudly host the representatives from the Royal British Legion, as well as veterans from LFC Foundation's military veterans programme, at Anfield and St Helens Stadium to enjoy the games.

LFC Women skipper Niamh Fahey added: "The team is honoured to wear the emblem of the poppy on their shirts to show their support on Remembrance Sunday."

The Royal British Legion relies on donations from the Poppy Appeal to help provide vital support to the armed forces community and their families to ensure that their unique contribution is never forgotten.

All of the proceeds raised from sales of the LFC Royal British Legion poppy pin will go directly to the Royal British Legion. To purchase a club-branded pin badge and show your support, please go here.
