This year’s theme ‘Inspire Inclusion’ outlines the crucial role of inclusion in achieving gender equality and the need to create environments where all women are valued and respected.

Throughout March, as part of Red Together – the club’s commitment to championing equality, diversity and inclusion – LFC, LFC Foundation and the club’s official partners will come together to deliver inspiring content and events to celebrate International Women’s Day and recognise the incredible achievements of women and the importance of their contributions.

Red Together is part of The Red Way, which is the club’s ongoing commitment to creating a better future for our people, planet and communities.

LFC will host an audience with former Liverpool FC Women player and the club’s first official women’s ambassador Natasha Dowie at Anfield for colleagues across the club. Dowie will discuss her personal and professional journey as a successful female footballer, the challenges she has overcome and the importance of visible role models.

LFC Foundation will host a ‘She Inspires’ football tournament on International Women’s Day, with 30 local schools attending and more than 300 young girls competing.

This will be followed by a Foundation ‘Women in Football’ event held at the AXA Melwood Training Centre on Thursday March 21, for year eight, nine and 10 pupils to encourage women and girls to consider careers in football.

Through interactive workshops, guest speakers and panels, the event will showcase the wide variety of roles and professions available in football for females and demonstrate how LFC, LFC Foundation and higher education can help women and girls achieve their career goals and aspirations.

Club partners Standard Chartered, AXA and VistaPrint also have International Women’s Day content, from staff webinars exploring women’s health to highlighting a bespoke programme aimed at lifting participation and inspiring inclusion in sport and supporting female-owned small businesses.

“As part of Red Together, which is an integral part of The Red Way people pillar, we are committed to providing an inclusive environment to make LFC as welcoming as possible to all, and championing women and celebrating difference is a such an important part of that.”

In September, LFC opened the AXA Melwood Training Centre, a first-class facility for its women’s team to ensure they can train and perform at the highest level. The facilities now available to the LFC Women squad are among the best in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

LFC Women’s Missy Bo Kearns was also appointed as an official LFC Foundation ambassador for her commitment to making a difference in the community, joining Jürgen Klopp and Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
