NewsLiverpool FC to celebrate Red Together at Anfield and Prenton Park
Red Together is part of The Red Way, which is the club’s ongoing commitment to creating a better future for its people, planet and communities.
The club will bring its Red Together work to life on Sunday May 5 at the Reds’ fixtures with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield and Manchester United Women at Prenton Park with matchday activities – including dedicated matchday programme content and visible Red Together branding before kick-off to allow fans to learn more about Red Together and why its work is so important.
This season, Red Together focused on the theme of role models, which included LFC players Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota and Leanne Kiernan sharing their personal role models from the sporting world and everyday life during the club’s Black History Month and International Women’s Day celebrations.
The club has also hosted a series of events for fans and its local communities to join – from welcoming almost 3,000 people to Anfield for its first free event celebrating the holy month of Ramadan, to hosting local schools at the AXA Melwood Training Centre for a ‘Women in Football’ event led by LFC Foundation to inspire and encourage the next generation of women and girls to consider careers in football.
LFC staff have also had the opportunity to hear from some truly inspirational role models throughout the season – including from official LFC ambassador Natasha Dowie and Chris Lubbe, Nelson Mandela’s former bodyguard.
Red Together was recently recognised with another award – Inclusive Employers Standard accreditation – in recognition of its inclusion activities and dedication to diversity. This new accreditation sits alongside the Premier League Advanced Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Standard, which the club was the first to achieve in the Premier League and has held since 2017.
Rishi Jain, director of impact at LFC, said: “We are looking forward to celebrating Red Together this weekend and demonstrating our ongoing commitment to ensuring that Liverpool FC continues to be a home for all.
“We are proud to incorporate equality, diversity and inclusion into all that we do as a club through The Red Way, and ensuring that our staff, fans, partners and local communities can play a role in supporting and amplifying this work is so important to its continued success.”

Black History Month
As part of the club’s Black History Month celebrations throughout October, Gomez discussed the black role models that helped shape him in both his personal and professional life, and the importance of representation.
The Reds defender spoke candidly about a range of inspirational people, from his dad and coaches at his first football club – Ten Em Bee – to Barack Obama, the first black President of the United States, as well as quarterback and civil rights activist Colin Kaepernick.

International Day of Disabilities
In December, to celebrate the UN’s annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Jürgen Klopp invited fan Dáire Gorman to the AXA Training Centre for a very special day.
Dáire captured the hearts of millions – including Klopp and his players – when he visited Anfield for the first time in September 2023, with the help of the Liverpool Disabled Supporters Association, and footage of his powerful reaction to hearing You’ll Never Walk Alone was shared widely across social media.

International Women’s Day
In March, to celebrate International Women’s Day, Red Together sat down with Jota and Kiernan, who both shared their personal and professional female role models. You can watch their conversations in full below.
The club hosted an audience with former LFC Women player and its first official women’s ambassador Dowie at Anfield for colleagues. Dowie discussed her journey as a successful female footballer, the challenges she has overcome and the importance of visible role models.
LFC Foundation also hosted a ‘She Inspires’ football tournament on International Women’s Day, with more than 300 young girls competing.
Share Ramadan
Last month, Anfield welcomed 2,800 people from diverse communities across the Liverpool City Region to come together to break their fasting with a range of delicious food and take part in collective prayer in an inclusive environment.
The event was run in collaboration with the Liverpool Region Mosque Network and provided a unique and vibrant meeting place for people from all backgrounds to share in the spirit of Ramadan, celebrating diversity and fostering a sense of togetherness.
