Press conferenceLFC Women team news: Injury updates on Ceri Holland and Olivia Smith
Holland sustained a leg problem during Wales’ UEFA Women’s Nations League loss to Denmark last Friday and has not recovered in time to be considered for Saturday’s 12.15pm BST kick-off.
Smith, though, is set to be available after she missed the Reds’ meeting with Aston Villa immediately before the international break due to a hip issue.
Providing a team news update on Thursday afternoon, interim head coach Amber Whiteley said: “The majority have come back fit and well. Ceri returned early from international duty – it’s not as bad as first thought but we are still taking it day by day with her at the moment.
“Olivia Smith has been back in full training, so that’s good news and she should be available to play a part this weekend.”
When asked if Holland has a chance of featuring against Sonia Bompastor’s side, Whiteley replied: “No, she’s going to take a little bit longer.”
