Press conferenceLFC Women team news: Fitness updates on Sophie Roman Haug, Teagan Micah and Ceri Holland
Manager Matt Beard confirmed on Friday the Reds will be without Roman Haug, who sustained the issue during the loss to Manchester City at Anfield last month, for their upcoming matches.
During his press conference to preview Sunday’s Barclays Women’s Super League clash with Aston Villa at Villa Park, Beard said: “Unfortunately she is going to be out for the next few, maybe the next four to six, weeks.
“She is in a [protective] boot with an ankle and foot problem so she won’t be available for the upcoming games.”
Goalkeeper Teagan Micah, however, is set to be back in Liverpool’s matchday squad this weekend.
“Teagan is fully fit now. The international window came at a good time… she’s been in full training this week so yeah, Teagan will be back available for selection,” Beard stated.
The Reds boss also reported no fresh fitness concerns following October’s international fixtures, adding: “Pretty much it’s been a good international break for us, especially for the players with their teams.
“Obviously the Welsh girls, Ceri [Holland] and Gemma [Evans] played 120 minutes in the game the other night, so that’s a big toll on the body. But it’s been a good international window for the players, everyone has come back fit and healthy, so it’s been a good window.”
Beard did, though, note that he will be careful with Holland – who scored decisively in extra-time for Wales as they beat Slovakia in the Women’s Euro 2025 qualification play-offs – given that she only recently returned from injury.
“Definitely, it’s for sure something we need to consider,” the manager said.
“We’ve modified her training today with a couple of other players that needed to be modified off the back of their minutes but she’ll be fit for selection, it just depends what minutes she can play.
“Especially coming off the back of the injury she had, we’ve got to make sure that we manage that properly and there is no recurrence of anything.”
