NewsLFC wins sustainability award at Football Business Awards
Liverpool FC has once again been recognised for its commitment to creating a better future for its people, planet and communities, winning the sustainability award at the 2023 Football Business Awards for the club’s ongoing sustainability strategy, The Red Way.
The club-wide sustainability programme was launched in January 2021, and the club’s first The Red Way Report was released in March this year, showcasing the work across all areas of the club.
This award is the latest of several achieved by LFC for The Red Way, while the club also topped the Sports Positive League for the second year running in 2023, named as the most environmentally sustainable Premier League football club.
Liverpool FC is also leading the way as the first Premier League club to achieve ISO 20121 certification, meaning it is sustainably certified and internationally recognised for its ability to deliver sustainable events – events that minimise potential negative impacts on the environment and leave a legacy to be proud of.
The Reds are one of only three Premier League clubs to be a signatory to the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework on the Race to Zero. LFC aims to be net zero across its sport operations by the end of the 2022-23 season, and the plan is to have 100 per cent of club operations run on low carbon and clean energy sources by 2025.
Through the positive actions of LFC colleagues and partners, working together to make a difference, The Red Way has thrived and continues to go from strength to strength.

Elsewhere at the Football Business Awards, LFC Foundation was recognised for its fantastic work across the city and beyond, picking up the silver award for best football community scheme – Premier League, while the club’s partnership with NIVEA MEN collected the bronze award for sponsorship/partnership of the year.
