LFC pays respects on 39th anniversary of Heysel Stadium disaster
By Liverpool FC
On May 29, 1985, at the European Cup final between Liverpool and Juventus, events in Block Z of Heysel Stadium in Belgium tragically led to the deaths of 39 football fans and left hundreds more injured.
As a mark of respect to those who died, club CEO Billy Hogan and ambassador Ian Rush laid a wreath beside the Heysel memorial plaque at Anfield this morning.
Flags are also being flown at half-mast across club sites throughout the day.
