NewsLFC loan watch: Morton assists on Hull debut while Phillips makes Celtic bow

The on-loan Liverpool midfielder came off the bench on the hour mark of the Tigers’ Championship clash with Coventry City and his superb cross teed up Aaron Connolly to glance home a late equaliser in their 1-1 draw.

There was also a debut for Nathaniel Phillips, who started Celtic’s 3-0 win over Dundee – for whom Owen Beck completed the 90 minutes – before being withdrawn at half-time.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said post-match: “I think with Nat it was precautionary. In the very last action he rolled his ankle a little bit and he could have played on but we decided to make sure.”

In the Bundesliga, meanwhile, Fabio Carvalho was introduced midway through the second half as RB Leipzig beat Augsburg 3-0 and Sepp van den Berg started and finished Mainz’s 3-1 reverse to VfB Stuttgart.

Liverpool FC Women defender Hannah Silcock helped Blackburn Rovers Women to a 1-0 win at Watford Women, while five more players from the men’s Academy were also in action.

In League Two, Adam Lewis’ Newport County drew 1-1 with Barrow, Harvey Davies and Crewe Alexandra drew 2-2 at AFC Wimbledon, and James Norris’ Tranmere Rovers lost 3-2 to Crawley Town.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Luke Hewitson kept a clean sheet as Stalybridge Celtic beat Witton Albion 4-0 and defender Billy Koumetio was sent off after two bookable offences in USL Dunkerque’s goalless stalemate with Grenoble Foot 98.

On Monday night, Anderson Arroyo was a late substitute in FC Andorra's 1-0 victory over Real Oviedo in Spain's Segunda Division.
