The 4,000 square foot retail unit celebrated the opening with a special fan event featuring the pair of former players, who were also joined by official club mascot Mighty Red, while there were performances from Liverpool singer Kieo and a DJ set from Katy Alex.
Members of several Official Liverpool Supporters Clubs from Ireland got to preview the store and have a meet and greet with Hyypia and Dowie before the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
The brand-new store mirrors the Liverpool ONE location in Liverpool city centre, with the same rebranded look and feel. Interior design elements are inspired by the architectural history of the home city, featuring metal and brick elements.
The new concept, which is being rolled out globally, has new elements based on supporter insight and what they wanted to improve in-store – such as stronger signposting of product, improved changing facilities, and more accessible stores.
Mike Cox, senior vice-president for merchandising at LFC, said: “We’re delighted to open a second standalone store in the Republic of Ireland.
“Christmas is a key trading period for any retailer, and it has been an incredible turnaround from the team to get this store open in time. We have such a strong fan base over here and the reception so far has been amazing from the fans.”
For this store, 15 new permanent positions have been filled, a mix of full-time and part-time roles. The shop will house official LFC merchandise, including the Nike kit, training and lifestyle range plus hundreds of exclusive LFC Label products. Jerseys can be printed in-store with the current Reds men’s and women’s teams or be bespoke to your own name.
The club now has seven permanent stores in the UK and Ireland, taking the total to 16 permanent locations across the globe.
The club’s other Dublin store at the Ilac Shopping Centre will be moving to a larger unit in March 2024, with updated refit to match the new store rebrand.
