CommunityLFC launches Operation Christmas Magic to bring joy and support this festive season
Liverpool FC and LFC Foundation are once again coming together alongside supporters, partners and the wider community to support thousands of local people and families throughout the festive period.
The Reds’ community Christmas campaign, ‘LFC Operation Christmas Magic’, will be running for the fourth consecutive year during December, with a focus on child and food poverty across the Liverpool City Region.
Activities will take place throughout the month, delivered by LFC Foundation, and Radio City will once again host their breakfast show live from the LFC retail store at Anfield on Friday December 8.
Child poverty
To ensure no child across the Liverpool City Region wakes up on Christmas morning without a gift, LFC is supporting Radio City Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas once again, with LFC Retail and LFC Foundation coming together to donate £15,000 worth of retail gifts to the appeal.
Fans can support the appeal by donating new and unwrapped gifts at collection points located at any official LFC store in Liverpool, Chester or Belfast. Supporters can also donate by simply texting CITY to 70910 to give £10 or to 70920 to donate £20.
A dedicated LFC fundraising page is also available for fans who wish to make a cash donation online here.
Supporters can also visit on Friday December 8 between 7am and 11am, when Leanne and Scott host their show from the LFC retail store at Anfield, where there will also be free breakfast sandwiches and hot drinks, as well as the chance to meet Santa, Mighty Red and LFC special guests.
Food poverty
LFC continues to work with and support St Andrew’s Community Network, home of the North Liverpool Foodbank, on the ongoing issue of food poverty.
Fans can show their support by making a food donation at one of the upcoming Anfield games before Christmas, which include fixtures against Fulham, Manchester United, West Ham United and Arsenal.
Items can be dropped off from three hours before kick-off at the official LFC retail store at Anfield, Homebaked bakery or the Fans Supporting Foodbanks unit on Walton Breck Road.
Food donations collected on matchday will also support Fans Supporting Foodbanks’ mobile pantries.
Fans can also donate directly to the North Liverpool Foodbank by simply texting SACN to 70085 to donate £10 to St Andrew’s Community Network or by visiting www.standrewslive.org.uk/donate.
Winter Wonderland
LFC’s sixth annual Winter Wonderland event will be held on Saturday December 9 at Norris Green Park.
There will be activities and games for all the family from 10.30am until 2.30pm. Our friendly team will be there to welcome you and your family as you go through a host of winter-themed fun, games and sensory activities, including face painting and arts and crafts. LFC Foundation’s GO PLAY! coaches will be providing multi-sports sessions and there will also be more magical surprises for the children.
Last year’s event saw more than 800 young people and their families enjoy a fantastic family day out and we look forward to another successful day this year.
Free Christmas lunches
LFC Foundation’s Red Neighbours team will deliver a week of Christmas lunches at Anfield, providing 700 local people with a Christmas dinner and festive entertainment.
LFC and LFC Foundation are also teaming up once again with club partners to donate and deliver 2,000 Christmas food hampers to local residents, participants and their families in Anfield and Kirkby and across the wider Liverpool City Region.
The hampers, which provide four days’ worth of fresh food for a family of four to enjoy, include a fresh turkey with all the trimmings for the perfect roast dinner, as well as a host of festive treats for the family.
LFC Operation Christmas Magic events also include the club’s popular Christmas Carol Service at Anfield, with guests from the local community, as well as Christmas parties with LFC Foundation. The club will also continue its support of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital with the annual visit from members of both the men’s and women’s teams.
