ClubLFC Foundation coach receives 'One of Our Own' recognition at Anfield

The Community Day, which took place when Liverpool beat Brentford 1-0 at Anfield on Saturday May 6, celebrated the fantastic work of LFC Foundation and the life-changing opportunities it creates for the most underserved communities across the Liverpool City Region and beyond.

Billy, who is Kicks coordinator at LFC Foundation, was nominated to receive the Premier League’s ‘One of Our Own’ prize by his colleagues across the foundation for his passion and dedication to supporting young people across some of Merseyside’s most high-need areas.

During his 10 years with LFC Foundation, Billy has helped break down territorial barriers and supported thousands of young people into grassroots and semi-professional football, further education and employment.

Liverpool legend and ambassador John Barnes and LFC Foundation chief executive Matt Parish presented Billy with his commemorative personalised plaque and ‘One of Our Own’ scarf during a special half-time presentation that gave fans the opportunity to congratulate him.

‘One of Our Own’ is part of the Premier League Supports campaign, which recognises exceptional commitment and contribution made by participants, staff or football figures in their community.

Commenting on Billy’s recognition, Gemma Smith, LFC Foundation’s head of programmes, said: “It is a pleasure to nominate Billy as ‘One of Our Own’ for the Premier League Supports campaign.

“He is such a pleasure to work alongside and is a real asset to LFC Foundation and the local communities we serve. On behalf of everyone at LFC Foundation, congratulations on your award, Billy.”
