NewsLFC becomes first Premier League club to reach 10 million YouTube subscribers
To celebrate becoming the leading content creator in the league, LFC received the prestigious Diamond Play Button award for its official YouTube channel, which was unveiled by Ibrahima Konate and presented to men’s captain Virgil van Dijk.
The Reds now join an elite group of YouTube creators with a Diamond Play Button.
The channel services a growing global community of Liverpool fans who tune in weekly to view original creative content, including both men’s and women’s match highlights, and the hugely popular exclusive behind-the-scenes access from Inside Anfield and Inside Training.
The top-performing video to date has reached 46 million views and since the channel was first launched in 2005 its content has been viewed more than 2.7 billion times.
Jürgen Klopp’s final game in charge of the Reds helped to push the channel past the 10 million mark. His last post-match speech to the players has reached more than 1.5 million views to date.
This year saw the launch of multi-language audio on the channel, with much of the core content now being available with Spanish-language audio, as well as curated subtitles in multiple languages.
Drew Crisp, senior vice-president of digital at LFC, said: “We’re thrilled to be the first Premier League club to reach this impressive milestone and lead the league in content creation.
“To achieve 10 million subscribers is not easy and it’s exciting to now be a Diamond Creator, one of only a few sporting creators in the UK.
“We’re extremely proud of our original content and that by delivering it on our YouTube platform we can easily connect with our global fanbase wherever they are in the world.”
Charles Kerr, strategic partner manager at YouTube UK, added: “Liverpool FC is one of the world’s most iconic and successful football clubs, with an unparalleled history and a truly international fanbase.
“It’s therefore no surprise that they have reached this incredible milestone of 10 million subscribers on YouTube, and it is testament to LFC’s tireless efforts building an online community of fans through creative, authentic content – from match highlights and interviews to vlogs and Shorts.
“We’ve also seen the channel make great strides through Memberships and other exciting new features on the platform like podcasts and expanding globally with multi-language audio. We’re thrilled to give Liverpool its Diamond Play Button, and we’re so excited to see the club and English football continue to flourish on YouTube.”
Subscribing to the channel allows supporters to be the first to view the new and exclusive uploads and receive direct alerts to the all the latest videos from Anfield and beyond.
