NewsLFC and Google Pixel to empower next generation of women in sports media

The academy is a five-month programme of workshops across every aspect of modern sports media – from broadcast punditry, production and written press to creating viral social content.

LFC will support the programme by providing valuable hands-on experience to academy members, including sessions where they get to film with Liverpool FC Women and the chance to cover a Barclays Women’s Super League match, with the content being used for digital and social channels.

There is also the potential for academy members to secure future work with LFC after graduating – including paid work experience, internships or freelance work, depending on available positions and performance.

The landmark initiative will also be delivered by leading voices in football with representatives from ITV, 90MIN and more who will provide opportunities, training and inspiration for women and girls looking to pursue a career in sports media.

Each academy member will receive a mentor from the sports industry to support their development and provide long-term guidance. Academy members will also be trained on the role of AI and how it can enhance sports coverage when used in conjunction with Pixel products, which will be provided for their use throughout the programme.

The application window for Pixel FC Academy is now open to aspiring female creators and closes on November 18 (T&Cs apply). For more information and to apply, visit here.

Google Pixel became the official mobile phone partner of LFC last summer with a particular focus on closing the visibility gap between men’s and women’s football, and inspiring more girls and women to get involved in the sport and move the game forward.

The Pixel FC Academy is part of this broader commitment to increase the number of women’s football creators by creating a clear talent pathway.
