NewsLFC and Cadbury give back to fans donating to matchday foodbank
As part of Liverpool FC’s Operation Christmas Magic campaign, foodbank collections will continue to be held at all home fixtures, encouraging fans and staff to donate essential food items to help tackle the ongoing issue of food poverty across the Liverpool City Region.
Fans can show their support by dropping off any non-perishable food donations from three hours before kick-off at the foodbank collection points, which are located at the official LFC retail store at Anfield, Homebaked bakery, or the Fans Supporting Foodbanks unit on Walton Breck Road.
And for fans attending the clash between the Reds and Manchester United on Sunday (December 17), there will be a special thank you to those who choose to donate to the foodbank, courtesy of official club partner Cadbury.
To thank supporters for their generosity throughout the year, Cadbury will gift a delicious chocolate treat to everybody who donates before the game.
Each person who donates at the Fans Supporting Foodbanks unit on Walton Breck Road will receive a Cadbury Milk Chocolate Pud. Fans can choose to enjoy the festive treat themselves as a well-deserved thank you; can donate it back to the foodbank; or even choose to be inspired by Cadbury’s ‘Glass and a Half in Everyone’ generosity ethos and gift it to whoever they sit next to in the stadium.
Some of the key items on the foodbank’s current priority list include: tinned potatoes, tinned vegetables, mashed potato (instant), fruit juice, coffee, curry and pasta sauce, tinned cold meat, cup-a-soups, noodles, and jam.
LFC continues to work with and support St Andrew’s Community Network, home of the North Liverpool Foodbank, and food donations collected on matchday will also support Fans Supporting Foodbanks’ mobile pantries.
Fans can also donate directly to the North Liverpool Foodbank by simply texting SACN to 70085 to donate £10 to St Andrew’s Community Network, or by visiting www.standrewslive.org.uk/donate.
