NewsLeanne Kiernan signs new Liverpool FC Women contract
The 25-year-old extends her stay with the Reds, having joined the club back in 2021 and scored 19 times in 47 appearances to date.
The striker played a key role in helping the team secure promotion back to the Barclays Women's Super League by netting 14 goals in 2021-22 and earning the Standard Chartered Player of the Season award.
Kiernan suffered a serious injury at the start of the 2022-23 campaign but returned to her best form last season to net crucial goals in Liverpool's charge towards a top-four finish in the WSL.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after putting pen to paper, she said: "It's amazing, for sure. Liverpool is home for me, I'm just really enjoying myself here.
"I love the club, I love the fans, I love the people. We are very similar, the Irish and the Scousers, and I really feel at home here.
"It is massive for my family as well. Obviously they come over quite often, which is really nice, and it is the closest city to Dublin. They really enjoy coming over and when I told them I was getting a new contract they were ecstatic."
Kiernan follows teammates Lucy Parry and Rachael Laws in signing a new deal with LFC Women ahead of the upcoming season.
Matt Beard's team play their final pre-season friendly against Everton at St Helens Stadium this Sunday, then host Leicester City to kick off the 2024-25 WSL campaign a week later.
