InterviewKostas Tsimikas: Hard work key to USA performances – and there is more to come

The Reds won all three of their friendlies while Stateside, beating Real Betis, Arsenal and, most recently, Manchester United.

Tsimikas scored for the first time for the club during the 3-0 victory over United in South Carolina last Saturday and, post-match, he told Liverpoolfc.com: “That’s the way we play, everybody has confidence.

“I think that is [because of] the very good, hard work we did with our new head coach, the new ideas. So, we just have to keep it up, just really work hard and do exactly what we can better.

“I think one of my dreams came true – to score for this club, with this jersey. Today also my brother’s baby has been born, so I am more than happy with the goal and the baby!”

Arne Slot’s squad returned to Merseyside immediately after the win at Williams-Brice Stadium, with a trip to Ipswich Town at the start of the Premier League campaign now just 11 days away.

Before then, Liverpool complete their programme of summer friendlies by meeting Sevilla and Las Palmas at Anfield on Sunday.

Tsimikas went on to express the team’s gratitude for the fervent support they received while in the United States.

He said: “It’s always good when we travel abroad to see all the Liverpool fans around the world singing for our team. We are more than happy and we just thank them a lot.”
