That save versus Napoli

Without the goalkeeper's vital intervention, European Cup No.6 may never have been brought from Madrid to Anfield.

Liverpool entered a must-win game on the final matchday of the 2018-19 Champions League group stage in L4 knowing that victory was required.

Napoli were the visitors and a 1-0 lead thanks to Mohamed Salah had been held heading into the latter stages. However, when the ball broke to Arkadiusz Milik yards from the Reds' goal in the 92nd minute, a sudden exit loomed.

That was until Alisson intervened with a phenomenal reaction save to keep Liverpool alive in the tournament, standing tall to block away the strike.

The Reds, of course, went on to lift the trophy six months later.

"I think I put my name in the history of Liverpool with the save against them in a decisive match, an all-or-nothing moment, with our Champions League lives on the line," Alisson later said. "I put everything I had into that save, and we put everything we had into that game."

Klopp and Ali's derby-day celebration

It's a celebration that has been replayed around the world.

The 232nd Merseyside derby, in December 2018, appeared to be destined for a stalemate at Anfield as Virgil van Dijk ballooned a half-volley up into the air in injury time.

Divock Origi, though, had other ideas as the forward was in the right place at the right time to nudge home a winner when the ball looped onto the crossbar and back into play.

Bedlam resulted from Liverpool securing a winner in such bizarre fashion, with Jürgen Klopp darting onto the pitch from the dugout.

His run was met by Alisson and the pair wildly embraced – an iconic celebration that will be remembered for years to come.

Keeping Barcelona at bay

It was a special Anfield night, one of the greatest the stadium has ever seen.

The evening is most revered for the goals scored and the celebrations created, but it was vital that Liverpool kept a clean sheet if they were to have any chance of overturning a huge deficit.

Barcelona landed on Merseyside with a three-goal advantage from the first leg of the Champions League semi-final encounter in 2019, knowing an early goal would likely end the Reds' small hopes of a turnaround.

Alisson's interventions to halt the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and, in particular, Jordi Alba were crucial and laid the foundations for one of the most remarkable comebacks of all time.

Champions League winner

Just like in the semi-final, Alisson was a key figure in helping Liverpool lift European Cup No.6.

The Reds secured an historic triumph under Klopp in Madrid thanks to an early penalty from Salah and a second-half finish by substitute Origi.

Alisson, though, provided more than his share of saves in the showpiece to keep Tottenham Hotspur at bay throughout.

With Liverpool under pressure holding a 1-0 advantage in the latter stages, the Brazilian was called upon and stood up firmly to the task.

He first denied Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura, before keeping out a Christian Eriksen free-kick in fine style.

As Liverpool lifted the trophy, Alisson did so in the knowledge he had been a vital cog in the machine.

Assisting Salah versus United

An iconic moment.

It all seemed to happen in one sweep of a boot. Alisson was in his own box one moment, and the next he was sliding towards the Kop on his knees in celebration.

With a January 2020 Premier League clash deep into added time, the goalkeeper collected a loose ball in his own box as Liverpool led Manchester United 1-0.

Thanks to some quick thinking, Alisson saw the free run of Salah over the halfway line and produced an inch-perfect ball for the forward.

It took seconds for the Egyptian King to dart through and finish calmly, sealing the points and sending Anfield into pandemonium.

Lifting the Premier League title

Helping the Reds to a first Premier League crown will keep Alisson's name in the history books on Merseyside forever.

His role in a landmark season, both on and off the field, is never overlooked as the last line of defence.

Alisson kept 13 clean sheets in his 29 league appearances in 2019-20, aiding a return of the top-flight trophy to Anfield for the first time in 30 years.

"I feel great," Alisson told Liverpoolfc.com at the time. "Winning and being [a] champion is always something special, but being Premier League champion for the first time in the history of this club means a lot for us.

"I believe we put our names in the history of this club. We are part of something big here, we are doing our job on the highest level we can and we are winning great things. This is becoming something really special for me, for my life. This club will be part of my life and part of my history until the last day."

The only goalkeeper to score for Liverpool

Everyone loves a stoppage-time winner – but one from your goalkeeper? Priceless.

It remains the first and only competitive goal from a Liverpool goalkeeper on record.

Alisson's incredible header came in the fifth minute of added time against West Bromwich Albion during the 2020-21 Premier League run-in.

His dart into the box, his glancing header from Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner ball and the celebrations that duly followed…

Crazy.

Penalty heroics to claim the FA Cup

Liverpool last secured English football's oldest trophy in 2022.

After a tense encounter at Wembley that ended 0-0 between the Reds and Chelsea, the game headed to a penalty shootout to settle the affair.

Up stepped Liverpool's No.1 to provide the key intervention in the capital and write another special page of his Anfield story.

Alisson's save from Mason Mount's spot-kick helped Klopp's charges claim a 6-5 victory on penalties and bring home another trophy to add to the collection.

A stunning save from Almiron

There are a range of other saves that could make this list – but this one stands out.

By the Brazilian's own admission, it's one of his best saves in a Liverpool shirt and it's not hard to understand why.

The Reds trailed 1-0 to Newcastle United at St. James' Park in August 2023 when Miguel Almiron struck a vicious volley goalwards.

Alisson, however, intervened to push the effort onto the bar and swing the loose ball away to keep his side in the game.

Darwin Nunez would later go on to memorably strike twice in the latter stages from the bench and claim the spoils for 10-man Liverpool.

"This award is even more special because it helped us get three points," Alisson said after picking up August's Premier League Save of the Month prize for the stop.

"I've seen the save back so many times. It was a really good one. It was a lot about reactions, good positioning and trying to read the situation. The power of the shot was really strong. I couldn't see the ball properly, there were so many players in front of me."

Collecting awards

Alisson's individual trophy cabinet continues to be filled year on year.

Since making the move to Liverpool in 2018, he has got his hands on an incredible haul of honours and also been named in various best XIs across the world.

Among them, he counts some of the highest honours a goalkeeper can earn with The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper (2019) and the Yashin Trophy (2019) awards.

He also clinched the Premier League Golden Glove in 2018-19 and 2021-22, and claimed Liverpool's Goal of the Season in 2021-22 for that stunning header at the Hawthorns.
