Manchester United legend and England World Cup winner Sir Bobby died peacefully on Saturday morning surrounded by his family and friends.

Meanwhile, Everton announced on Tuesday Kenwright – chairman of the Blues since 2004 – had sadly passed away on Monday evening.

Speaking to journalists at Anfield, Klopp said: “I never met either of them, but being eight years in England now… especially Sir Bobby, I knew him before I arrived here and he was one of the biggest football personalities definitely, in English football, European football [and] world football.

“I cannot add anything [to what has already been said], but I really feel for the family and I hope they are doing OK.

“And with Mr Kenwright it is similar. The thing I read a little bit recently, obviously [he had] a massive heart for the city and a massive heart for Everton, but the message he gave around Hillsborough, the speech he gave, I heard about – that they chose the wrong city and the wrong mums – that’s a really, really strong message.

“With all the rivalry with Everton, especially around the games, I don’t think we have any issues with each other left and right of the games. It just shows how united we are in these moments and that’s really big. He found absolutely the right words for it.

“My condolences to the family and I hope they are OK.”
