NewsJürgen Klopp issues Cody Gakpo and Andy Robertson injury update
The Reds welcome the French side to Anfield in Group E for an 8pm BST kick-off under the lights, looking to maintain their strong start in the competition.
Andy Robertson, meanwhile, has undergone successful surgery on a shoulder injury picked up with Scotland on international duty earlier this month.
Gakpo – who has been absent since the visit to Tottenham Hotspur in September – is now available again after recovering from a knock, while Robertson has begun his rehabilitation.
Klopp told his pre-match press conference: “Robbo had surgery and [it] all went well, as good as it could be, so the recovery starts after he wakes up. I think it happened this morning. That’s it. We don’t know how long it will take or whatever, but the first step is done, that’s good.
“Cody is in full training now since Sunday, which means he is available for the squad. Whatever we do with that we will have to see, but that’s good as well.”
Asked about the current status of Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic, he added: “No, not in team training.”
