NewsJarell Quansah explains Arne Slot's 'adaptable' coaching style

Slot's Reds currently sit top of the Premier League and initial phase of the Champions League, having also progressed in other competitions, during an impressive first season in the Anfield dugout.

The victories and high-level performances delivered thus far are down to the fresh playing style implemented by the head coach and him doing whatever is necessary to draw the maximum out of the squad, Quansah believes.

The defender said: "He's been great, he's been good for everyone. The way he's come in and got us playing a different style, it suits a lot of our players. You've seen yourself with some of the football we've been playing, it's been really attractive and exciting.

"It's been good and we've put ourselves in a good position, so it's just about kicking on."

On Slot's man-management style, Quansah continued: "He's quite adaptable and it depends how different players need it at different times.

"He's very good with his tactics but on the other side of it, he's good with putting [an] arm around players and encouraging when he needs to, or maybe even, if it's needed, give a bit of criticism or whatever it may be – but it's all for the better of the players."

After securing a spot in the last 16 of the Champions League in midweek, Liverpool turn their focus back to domestic matters this weekend.

The leaders host Ipswich Town at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, looking to collect their 16th league win of the campaign.

"It's never an easy game in the Premier League. They're obviously coming off a loss but I think their manager and their players, they've always got drive and they want to stay in the Premier League," Quansah said.

"Games like [the ones] against us, they're always going to want to win it and try to get momentum for themselves.

"I feel like we know we're a team that is definitely in a position to push and really go for the league – that's just what we're trying to do really. Game by game, we're just trying to push as hard as we can and just try to win our games, playing our style.

"I think if we keep working hard and doing what we've been doing, hopefully by the end of the season we'll have enough points to be champions."
