Interview'It's a massive time of the season - and we can't wait for it'
Following the postponement of the Premier League meeting with Chelsea and the subsequent international break, the Reds resume their campaign at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The clash with the Seagulls represents the first of nine games in October – a hectic spell Elliott is looking forward to.

Harvey, there are nine games in October – it’s such a packed schedule now in the lead-up to the World Cup…
Yeah, definitely. To be back now after the internationals, I don’t think there was any injuries, which is a massive bonus, and everyone is – or the majority of the players are – coming back from injury. It’s a massive time for us and a busy period so we are going to need everyone at some point, so we’re just looking forward to getting started this weekend against Brighton. Hopefully we can start off with a good result and make sure we build on that throughout these next couple of months and leading up to the World Cup.
Do you think that the busy fixture list could help you gain some momentum?
Definitely, yeah. I think we benefit from playing in quick turnarounds, I think we have momentum in one game and then it’s not long until you get to play again. And even if we don’t get the result it’s one of them where we can’t dwell on it too much because we have another game in two or three days’ time. So it’s a great period for us and personally I think we perform to our best when we’re in a momentum, when we’re playing every three days or every two days. So we’re really looking forward to it and hopefully we can turn things around.

Is there a determination to get into a winning habit after the victory over Ajax last time out?
Yeah, definitely, and I think to win before an international break, it’s brought us to training this week in high spirits and in high hopes and hopefully we can push on from that win. The boys are all very confident and flying in training, as it has been all this season, so we can build on it and obviously with the fans as well, it’s always good to have them in and around us. To play at home is always a massive help so hopefully we can get the result and give the fans what they want and build from the Ajax game.
How good is it to see a few of the boys back from injury and to have a nearly fully fit squad again?
It’s unbelievable and I think just to have all the lads back together or in and around one another, even the lads that are injured I think they are all on the pitch now, so just to sort of have them there on the training field when we’re all there, it’s nice to have that togetherness again and to have them in and around the building again and slowly coming back.
As I said, we’re going to need everyone in these next couple of months of the season, everyone is going to need to play a big part. So just to have them all around and to be a team again, it’s amazing.
Brighton have been a tough team to play against in recent years and they now have a new manager – are you preparing to face their best version?
Definitely. They’re a great team, they’ve got a new manager now so everyone is going to be wanting to impress him and come out flying, and the fans as well who are making the trip to Anfield are going to want a good result. Brighton know that so it’s just down to us to prepare right, make sure we understand what they’re trying to do, even the basics like set-pieces because they are a big team and they have all these ideas. We just need to make sure we are bang on it and 100 per cent ready, which I know we will be. But we’re all looking forward to it.
