Round-upInternationals: Trent Alexander-Arnold nets for England in friendly win
Liverpool’s No.66 – who was deployed in a midfield role for the majority of the night – scored his nation’s second during a 3-0 win thanks to a well-taken low volley from inside the box.
Alexander-Arnold finished off from a tight angle having moved to right-back in the latter stages of the game, with Jack Grealish’s pass into the area resulting in a clever first-time finish in minute 85.
Joe Gomez also featured for the final 17 minutes of the contest, while fellow Reds Curtis Jones and Jarell Quansah were unused substitutes.
Gareth Southgate’s charges opened the scoring via Cole Palmer’s penalty in the second half, ahead of Harry Kane rounding out the scoring in the final minute following Alexander-Arnold's effort, with England earning victory ahead of a final warm-up match before Euro 2024 against Iceland on June 7 at Wembley.
Andy Robertson, meanwhile, completed 66 minutes of Scotland’s 2-0 friendly defeat of Gibraltar in Portugal earlier in the day.
The Reds full-back played a key role in the build-up to Ryan Christie’s opener, delivering the ball into the area from the left flank ahead of the strike, while Che Adams completed the scoring for Steve Clarke’s men.
Scotland will undertake a second pre-Euros friendly against Finland also on June 7, which will be played at Hampden Park in Glasgow.
