Niamh Fahey was also selected from the start in opposition, while Leanne Kiernan was a late substitute for the visitors.

The two teams were unable to be separated as they played out a 1-1 draw ahead of the return fixture in Dublin.

Jenna Clark, meanwhile, helped keep a clean sheet and completed the full contest for Scotland in a 0-0 draw with Finland in Edinburgh, with the teams set to meet again in Helsinki.

Elsewhere, Marie Höbinger featured for 71 minutes of Austria’s 1-0 defeat to Poland in Gdansk ahead of a reverse fixture in Vienna.

All second leg games in the play-offs are due to take place on Tuesday December 3 with the winner from each tie advancing to next summer's tournament.

Lastly, Olivia Smith featured as a substitute in the second half of Canada's 0-0 friendly draw with Iceland in Murcia.
