LFC Women'I'm so proud to play 100 games for Liverpool'

The No.5 captained LFC Women to an important three points as they produced an impressive display to beat West Ham United 2-0 in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday.

The Galway-born defender - a massive Reds supporter - joined teammate Ashley Hodson and former skipper Gemma Bonner as the third woman to reach a century of appearances for the club in the modern era.

Fahey played her part in helping the team keep a clean sheet as they bounced back to winning ways in the WSL, with Ceri Holland and Katie Stengel the scorers at Prenton Park.

“It was a great performance from everyone, and getting the clean sheet on my 100th appearance for the club tops it all off,” Fahey told Liverpoolfc.com.

“It was a massive day for me, making 100 appearances for this fantastic club I love and it makes me very proud, and to do it in front of our own supporters at Prenton Park makes it even more special.

“I have joined an exclusive club and it really is a privilege to join those two girls in Ashley and Gemma in making 100 appearances for Liverpool.”

Fahey also reserved special praise for Wales international Holland for her all-round display as she registered her first goal of the season.

“I thought Ceri was fantastic,” she added.

“The energy she brings, her partnership in midfield with Jas [Jasmine Matthews] as well, it was a fantastic performance from Ceri and great to see her get on the scoresheet.

“We can build on this now and that’s our standard going forward.”

LFC Women are back in action on Wednesday night when they host Manchester City in their final Continental League Cup group game, against Manchester City at Prenton Park, with kick-off 7pm GMT.
