“[I enjoyed it] very much, yeah – I’m so happy to score once again at the Kop. Being back at Anfield is always important so I’m very, very happy,” Gonzalez, who also netted in last September’s home win against Manchester United Legends, told Liverpoolfc.com.
“I’m very happy to score once again here in Anfield and catch up with my teammates as well. Steven Gerrard was a surprise for this game. I’m so happy, I’m just looking forward to coming again and [to] keep scoring.
“Steven Gerrard is always so important for us, to be on the pitch – and he demonstrated it. It’s Steven Gerrard; I mean, we can’t say any more about it!
“Always, it’s always competitive, all the team. It doesn’t matter if it’s a charity game, we always want to win and I think we show it every game. That’s important always, to keep the competitiveness active.”
The match was staged to raise vital funds for charity and, on the importance of that, Gonzalez added: “Of course, and you can see all these people supporting us. They can still donate to the LFC Foundation and we’re so happy to be part of it, it’s always important to help others.”
- All proceeds raised from the game will support a range of LFC Foundation's and partner charities' programmes. Fans can make a donation via liverpoolfc.com/donate.
