“This type of game is like another derby for us so we went into this all guns blazing. You can see how happy we are, how happy our fans are and that means everything to us.

“Normally I’m not in the box, normally I’m on the edge but today I was in the box.

“Yesterday I said I’m going to score today – and that’s what happened. I’m pleased and I’m pleased with the team’s performance as well.”

Liverpool headed to United having previously beaten Everton Women away from home in the Continental League Cup.

And there was the added incentive for the players of making amends for the 6-0 defeat they had suffered in the fixture in 2022-23.

“Yeah, definitely,” said Hinds. “I think we have put that game way past us. It’s a new season, a new team, new players and you can see that we’ve added so much value to this team as well.

“That game is way behind us and I think that’s why today feels even better.”
