Respects were paid at the Women’s FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Chelsea, to mark the 36th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy.

Ninety-seven supporters lost their lives as a result of the disaster that unfolded when the Reds faced Nottingham Forest on April 15, 1989.

Today’s tie at Kingsmeadow was the women’s team’s closest fixture to this year’s anniversary on Tuesday, and tributes took place in the form of a period of silence before kick-off and players wearing black armbands.
