InterviewHarvey Elliott on Reds aims, Salah and 'father figure' Klopp
The 18-year-old recently marked his return from injury with a first Reds goal in the Emirates FA Cup victory against Cardiff City in February.
Elliott – who was named fifth on GOAL's NXGN list for 2022 on Tuesday – then helped the club lift the Carabao Cup at Wembley as a substitute and also featured against Nottingham Forest last weekend at the City Ground, picking up more senior minutes.
Liverpool remain in the hunt for an unprecedented quadruple this season, and will require Klopp's full complement of players heading into the month of April, which will see them play out no fewer than eight games.
Elliott discussed several subjects with YouTube channel UMM, including wanting to become a role model at Anfield, in their latest episode of 'Assumptions'.
The No.67 said: "Now I'm in and around the team, I sort of want to be that figure that people look up to.
"Obviously, I look at players and take bits from their game into my game.
"But now that I'm in and around the team, I want to be my own person. I want to play my own game. I don't want to base it off anyone else."
Asked about playing alongside the likes of Mohamed Salah, he said: "Who wouldn't love playing with Mo Salah?
"In my opinion, he's the best in the world. Alongside Trent [Alexander-Arnold] on that right side, it's a dream for any youngster."
Klopp has also left a huge impression on the teenager, who joined his boyhood club from Fulham in 2019.
"The warmth that he brings, it's a joke," Elliott continued. "He is [a father figure]. You see it a lot, how he is with players, his players and how he interacts with the fans.
"He's the best possible man for the job, I can say, and the best possible person to be learning off."
