LFC WomenGoalkeeper Katie Startup recalled by parent club Brighton
The 22-year-old joined the Reds in the summer to strengthen the team’s goalkeeping unit but will now return to the Women’s Super League club.
Startup has started in two FA Continental League Cup games, against Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers. In the former she kept a clean sheet before the Reds went on to win the game in a penalty shootout.
LFC Women manager Matt Beard said: “Katie’s been great since she’s been with us and we wish her the very best as she returns to Brighton.
“She did very well in the games she played for us and hopefully she has benefited from her time with us as well and will go back as an even better goalkeeper.”
The young goalkeeper sent her thanks to everyone at LFC Women as she left the club.
Startup commented: “Thank you to all the supporters, players, staff and everyone involved at Liverpool FC Women for making me feel so welcome during my time here.
“It’s been a privilege to represent the club and I’ll be watching on and wishing the team every success in their pursuit of promotion. YNWA.”
