Trent Alexander-Arnold wants the relentlessness that has characterised Liverpool's Premier League season so far to be in evidence again at Sheffield United.

The Reds travel to Bramall Lane on Saturday seeking to stretch their 100 per cent winning start to the top-flight campaign to seven matches.

Such a formidable opening to 2019-20 has seen Jürgen Klopp’s side - who have strung together a club-record 15 consecutive league victories overall - open up a five-point lead at the summit of the table.

With the season still in its early stages, though, Alexander-Arnold is paying little attention to the standings and insists the focus within Liverpool’s dressing room is solely on the short-term aim of winning their next match.

“We’re relentless I think. We’re just trying to keep going, we’re not focused on whether it’s a five-point gap or we’re chasing, it’s just about what we can do going into every game, trying to get the three points, trying to win, not focusing on any other teams and where they are in the league,” the right-back told Liverpoolfc.com.

“It’s just about us pushing ourselves to our limits and making sure we’re the best possible team we can be, making sure the performances are right and that we’re getting the right results.

“Then when it comes to March, April, that’s when you start to look at the league to see where you are, but until then we’re just trying to get the points on the board.”

Newly-promoted Sheffield United, meanwhile, go into Saturday’s fixture in mid-table following their 2-0 success over Everton at Goodison Park last weekend.

Alexander-Arnold continued: “They’re a strong side, they’ve shown that since they’ve come up. They’re really good, especially at home, so we know it’s going to be a very tough game.

“We know that they’ve got a point to prove and we know it’s not going to be an easy game at all, so for us it’s about mentally being focused and going into the game confident on the run that we’re on, and trying to extend that and get the three points.”
