Joe Gomez on injury recovery: 'I've done it before and I'll do it again'
Joe Gomez’s approach to recovering from his injury setback is as matter-of-fact as it is simple: ‘I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again.’
The defender, who committed his future to Liverpool on Monday by signing a new long-term contract, was last week ruled out for up to six weeks due to the lower left leg fracture he sustained during the Reds’ 3-1 win at Burnley.
However, Gomez is confident that he will soon be back and contributing once again for the Premier League leaders.
“Obviously I am devastated with the timing of it. You never want to get injured,” Gomez told Liverpoolfc.com, shortly after putting pen to paper on his new deal.
“I’ve been here a few years and I am still young, but it’s something I’m used to and I am capable of dealing with setbacks like this. I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again.
“You never want to be injured, as a player you always want to play. It will be tough for me sitting out for a while, but I will do everything I can to get back better and stronger.”
