Liverpool legend Phil Thompson turns 60 today – and to mark the occasion, we've put together a gallery of photos which chart the Scouser's phenomenal Anfield career.

Kirkby-born Thompson made his Reds debut in April 1972 and went on to win seven league titles, three European Cups, two UEFA Cups and the FA Cup.

In 1981, he lifted the European Cup in Paris - and following his retirement, he returned on two separate occasions as reserves manager under Kenny Dalglish and assistant to Gerard Houllier.
