Sturridge set for special milestone
Daniel Sturridge is set to reach a personal milestone as he makes a return to former club Manchester City on Sunday.
Liverpool's No.15 is set to play the 100th game of his league career so far on his reunion with City.
The striker played 32 games for City in all competitions scoring six goals. He played for City against Liverpool in the 2006 FA Youth Cup final scoring twice at the Etihad but Liverpool won the final on aggregate.
His City league debut came six years ago today (Sunday) as a substitute in a 2-0 defeat by Reading. He has never scored against City since he left the club.
Here are the rest of the facts and figures ahead of the clash with Roberto Mancini's side from club statto Ged Rea.
Earlier this season the sides drew 2-2 at Anfield. Twice Liverpool led through Martin Skrtel and Luis Suarez but City hit back through Yaya Toure and Carlos Tevez.
On this ground last season City won 3-0 with goals from Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and James Milner (penalty).
In between those two fixtures was the Reds League Cup semi-final 3-2 aggregate victory with Steven Gerrard's early penalty winning the first leg at the Etihad.
Home and away the Reds have lost only two of the last 15 clashes - both in Manchester in the last two seasons - and have kept eight clean sheets in the process.
This fixture in Manchester has produced eight draws in the last 15 league meetings.
Liverpool have scored in only two of the last eight visits - a 1-0 win in 2005-06 and 3-2 in 2008-09.
That 3-2 win is the only time in the last six visits in which the Reds have scored. On that day they came from 2-0 down at half-time to win with goals from Fernando Torres (2) and Dirk Kuyt.
The last Liverpool man to score a hat-trick against City was Michael Owen in September 2002 at Maine Road. That is the only occasion a Reds player has achieved the feat against City in Manchester.
Two of Martin Skrtel's seven league goals have come against City - both at Anfield and both were the first goal of the game in a 2-2 draw.
Liverpool have lost both of their last two league visits. They have never suffered three in a row since 1936-37 when City won a fourth in succession.
No current Liverpool player has scored a league goal for the Reds on this ground.
Luis Suarez made his Liverpool debut two years ago today (February 2) and scored against Stoke at Anfield. He has scored nine goals in his last nine games and five in his last five away from home.
Jordan Henderson has scored four goals in 53 league appearances for the Reds with two of those goals coming in his last two games.
Joe Allen could make his 150th career league appearance.
City have lost one of their last 41 home league games - the only blemish being their 3-2 home defeat by Manchester United last December.
During that 41-game period they have conceded only 26 goals. Apart from United only Arsenal (1-1) and Everton (1-1) have left the Etihad without defeat.
They have let in nine goals at home this season and have the best defensive record both at home and in total (19) in the top-flight.
Since losing at Sunderland on Boxing Day, City have won six and drawn one out of seven in all competitions and have kept six clean sheets in a row.
They have not conceded a goal in 555 minutes since Russell Martin scored for Norwich on December 29 - so have not let in a goal this year.
Edin Dzeko has scored four goals in his last six starts. He is City's leading scorer with 11 in all competitions and 10 in the league. Carlos Tevez has found the net once in his last 11 games.
Joe Hart is leading the race for this season's Golden Glove. He has kept 11 clean sheets in the Premier League.
City are five points worse off than they were at this stage last season.
City have had a player sent off in two of the last three league meetings with Liverpool. Mario Balotelli was sent off at Anfield after coming on as a substitute while Gareth Barry received his marching orders on this ground.
