Last season the teams met four times with Liverpool recording their second successive league double over Chelsea.

They won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge. Maxi Rodriguez opened the scoring on 33 minutes and despite Daniel Sturridge equalising on 55, Glen Johnson popped up with the winner three minutes from time.

In the return at Anfield, just days after the FA Cup final meeting, Liverpool won 4-1. They led 3-0 after 28 minutes with goals from Michael Essien (OG), Jordan Henderson and Daniel Agger. Stewart Downing then missed a penalty on the stroke of half-time. Ramires pulled one back before Jonjo Shelvey scored his first league goal for the Reds.

They also met in both domestic competitions. Liverpool won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the League Cup (Maxi and Martin Kelly) with Chelsea winning the FA Cup final 2-1 (Ramires and Didier Drogba with Andy Carroll netting a consolation).

The Reds have recorded three league doubles over Chelsea in the Premier League - all in the last four seasons.

They have never beaten the Londoners home and away in three successive league campaigns.

All of the Reds' four wins at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League era have been by a one-goal margin. The last time they won by a greater margin was December 1989 when they won 5-2.
