Mighty Red's special assembly
Liverpool's new mascot Mighty Red joined Liverpool FC community coaches at Booker Avenue Junior school in Allerton to take part in one of the club's Truth 4 Youth assemblies.
Mighty was full of fun, singing and dancing with the children; however, he was also there to communicate Liverpool FC's seven important messages to the youngsters covering a range of issues including anti-racism, anti-bullying and positive community action.
And Mighty even brought along a special surprise for the schoolkids as the European Cup made the journey across Liverpool to the school's assembly hall.
The first message for the young audience was 'Rule out the Racist'. Next was 'Ban the Bully' and 'Drop the Drugs' during which LFC chaplain Bill Bygroves explained about how drugs can ruin sporting careers and wreck lives.
Then the children were told to 'Shoot Goals not Guns' and 'Say no to Knife Crime'. Mighty also reminded the youngsters that 'More important than being a Good Footballer is being a Good Person'.
The final message of the morning from Mighty and the club's staff was simply 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.
After the assembly, Mighty travelled to the Goals Soccer Centre, where he got involved in coaching sessions with the children.
He took up position between the sticks for a blind and deaf awareness session, in which the youngsters were given blindfolds and earphones, in order to understand what its like to play football without being able to see or hear.
Mighty was unveiled as Liverpool FC's new mascot on Sunday evening at a special event at the club's Boot Room Sports Cafe and earlier this week he paid a special visit to Alder Hey Children's hospital in South Liverpool.
